Specialist Knowledge for Non-Legal Roles

For non-legal tribunal roles, you will be asked to demonstrate how your specialist knowledge and experience meet the requirements of the role.

Your response should provide clear and relevant evidence of the skills, knowledge and expertise set out in the role profile. When preparing your answer, consider the examples that best demonstrate your experience, professional judgement and ability to apply your specialist knowledge in practice.

The assessment panel will include a member with expertise in the relevant specialism. This panel member will lead the assessment of your specialist knowledge and experience. All panel members will consider your response and will use this to assess how clearly and effectively you communicate complex information and other personal and judicial skills such as exercising judgement.

When preparing your application, it is important to understand the role of a specialist ordinary member. Specialist members contribute their professional knowledge and experience to support the tribunal's decision-making and provide insight on matters within their area of expertise.

Your application should therefore demonstrate not only your specialist knowledge, but also your ability to apply that knowledge objectively, communicate it effectively and contribute to the work of the tribunal.
