Become a Judge of the First-tier Tribunal

The JAC (Judicial Appointment Commission) has been asked to identify candidates to recommend for the post of Judge of the First-tier Tribunal. There are 94 full-time equivalent vacancies. Salaried part-time work may be available at a minimum of 50% or 60%, depending on the Chamber. The exact working pattern will have to be agreed between HMCTS, the relevant Chamber, and the successful candidate, at the time of appointment.    

Assignments from this selection exercise are expected to be across 4 Chambers: 

  • Social Entitlement (SEC), 
  • Health Education and Social Care (HESCC), 
  • Immigration and Asylum (IAC), and 
  • War Pensions and Armed Forces Compensation (WPAFCC).
