Sheriff 25 Information Session

On Tuesday 29th October 2024, the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland (JABS) will launch a recruitment round through which we will be seeking to make recommendation on the appointment of up to 12 x full time Sheriffs in Scotland, including a specialist Personal Injury role.

In support of this JABS and the Judicial Office will deliver a virtual information session on Wednesday 23rd October 2024 between 5:30pm – 7:10pm.

Judicial JABS member Sheriff Principal Dowdalls KC will chair the session and along with Mrs Liz Burnley CBE, Lay JABS Member, will provide an overview of the application process.

The session will also provide an insight into the working life of a Sheriff and will demystify what the role involves. Sheriff Amel Elfallah and Sheriff Jane Farquharson KC will talk about their own experiences and journey to the Judiciary. Sheriff Robert Fife will attend to provide insight into the Personal Injury specialist role and Sheriff Cottam, Deputy Director, Judicial Institute for Scotland will also be  speaking, and taking questions on the training process for Sheriff.
