Journey to the Judiciary: An Information Evening

25 Nov 20

Date: 7th December 2020

Time: 16:00 - 17:15

Location:
Online

Do you have the experience and qualities needed to be a judge? Would a judicial role suit you? How do you successfully make the transition from solicitor to sheriff?

Joining the judiciary is a great opportunity for solicitors who want to take their career in a challenging new direction. This event in conjunction with Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland will bring together members of the judiciary for an interactive panel discussion. Speakers will each give a short introduction explaining their background and how and why they made the transition into the judiciary. We’ll then invite questions for discussion.

There will be competitions for both offices of Sheriff and Summary Sheriff in 2021. The expert panel will explain more about the application and interview process and information on how to develop a career in the judiciary.

You will have the ability to submit questions for the panel at the event and in advance via memberservices@lawscot.org.uk.

At this event you will:

• Gain information on career options within the judiciary
• Understand more about the skills and qualifications you’ll need
• Myth-bust any misconceptions about working in or applying to the judiciary
• Learn about the judicial recruitment process

This event is open to any solicitors who would like to learn about a career in the judiciary, whether you think that might be soon, or perhaps as an option in the future.

If you have any enquiries in relation to this event please contact memberservices@lawscot.org.uk.

This is a free event.
